The West Coast Annual Regatta (1959)
In the summer of 1959, the 1st West Coast Annual Regatta was held at Long Gull Pond, near Stephenville. At the time, I was 14 years old and this was an exciting event, right up there with “Armed Forces Day”, which was celebrated annually at the nearby Ernest Harmon Air Force Base.
The Western Star reported on the event in their September 8, 1959 issue.
