1794 – October 1 – married, Henry Stone of the Parish of Pinhoe in the County of Devon in Great Britain and Mary Hogarth  Dau(r) of Isaac & Dorothy Hogarth of this Harbor.

In 1800-1801, Henry Stone (32) and Mary Hogarth (26) are living in Old Bonaventure with their 2 children Grace (3) and Thomas(1).

According to this census, Henry Stone was both the  “occupier” and “proprietor” of his house and fishing room, which implies ownership. Henry also owns his boat. There are 2 woman in the household, which could include Mary’s mother, Dorothy (Blanchard) Hogarth.

Church records suggest that Henry and Mary were living in Old Bonaventure in 1795, when their first child was born.

The same census for the Trinity (1800-1801), includes a Robert Stone and Sons. The reference is to Robert Stone (38) and Mary Haddow (?), who have at least 5 children including 3 sons. There is no suggestion in the records of a blood relationship between Robert Stone of Trinity and Henry Stone of Old Bonaventure.

Henry Stone and Mary Hogarth had 9 children:

Grace Stone was baptized in Old Bonaventure on June 8, 1795 at 5 weeks old. Grace died on March 7, 1796 in Bonaventure.

Grace Stone was baptized in Old Bonaventure on May 27, 1798 at 4 months old. She married John Gardiner on November 23, 1814. This Grace died on December 28, 1879 in British Harbour, Trinity Bay, NL.

Thomas Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on May 27, 1798. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Bailey on October 22, 1822. Thomas died sometime after 1843, most likely at Old Bonaventure.

Ambrose Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on October 7, 1801.  He married Jane Frampton on October 22, 1822. Ambrose died sometime after 1849, likely at White Rock in Smith Sound.

Sarah Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on December 31, 1804.

William Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on September 13, 1807. William married Mary. William died in Old Bonaventure in 1883.

Tamour (Tamassin) Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on June 27, 1811. She married James Morris on November 7, 1825. Tamassin died sometime after 1835.

Henry  Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on Dec 31, 1813. He first married Mary Spurrell on May 14, 1838. He then married Patience Maher. Henry died at Upper Rocky Brook on December 4, 1888.

Elizabeth Stone was born in Old Bonaventure on May 24, 1816.

It is more than likely that Henry Stone and Mary Hogarth lived their entire lives in Old Bonaventure.
